Too Many Men Don’t Know Where to Start
Too many Black men go without the mental health support they need—because they don’t know where to turn, who to trust, or how to find culturally relevant services. Stress, trauma, and anxiety are carried alone, with no clear path to care.
Because the system wasn’t built to handle the scale and complexity of mental illness, too many men fall through the cracks. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
With peer-led support, accessible programs, and community-driven care, Black men can access the help they deserve, build resilience, and reclaim wellness—without navigating the maze alone.
Your support ensures no man is left to face his struggles in isolation.
Healing Happens in Community — and We’re Leading the Way
The Black Men's Therapy Fund is the first and only organization in Canada dedicated exclusively to the mental health and wellness of Black men. It brings together access to care, community programming, cultural understanding, and advocacy to create real, lasting change.
Peer Support Works—and Black Men Deserve Access to It.
Research shows that peer support reduces isolation, increases trust, improves mental health outcomes, and helps men stay engaged in care. For Black men—who often face stigma, cultural barriers, and a lack of culturally competent providers—peer support is not just helpful; it’s essential. At BMTF, it’s the foundation of everything we do.
And when you support BMTF, you’re not just helping one person, one program, or one moment move forward. You make it possible for us to remove long-standing barriers, build new pathways to healing, and ensure that Black men receive the care, affirmation, and community they deserve.
Your support fuels innovative wellness programs, expands access to culturally grounded therapy, strengthens community-led initiatives, and challenges stigma and systems that have left too many men underserved.
Together, we are reshaping what mental wellness can look like—one that is accessible, affirming, and built for the men who need it most.

Redefining Care
Black Men’s Therapy Fund isn’t just addressing challenges—we’re creating peer-led, culturally relevant solutions that transform mental health for Black men in Canada. Your support helps us remove barriers, build trust, and foster community-driven wellness.
Peer Support: Peer-led programs lower hospitalization rates, improve coping skills, and increase feelings of belonging and hope.
Community Care: Our programs provide safe, culturally relevant spaces where Black men can access mental health supports without stigma.
Education & Empowerment: We deliver transformative programming that reduces stigma, reinforces resilience, and demonstrates the power of redemption.
Advocacy: BMTF champions systemic change by providing tools, resources, and strategies that prioritize culturally sensitive, community-centered approaches to care.
Forging the Path
Your support helps BMTF deliver early intervention and harm reduction through peer-led care, culturally relevant programming, and community-based support. We meet Black men where they are, provide tools for resilience and wellness, and create pathways to a stronger, more accessible mental health system.

Connecting Black Men Earlier
Your support helps the Black Men’s Therapy Fund provide peer-led, culturally grounded care that reaches men before struggles escalate.
Our Brotherhood’s Redemption Hub: A virtual Discord drop-in for Black men, parents, caregivers, and health-care providers—offering connection, resources, and peer-led support.
Peer-Led Support: Evidence shows peer programs reduce isolation, improve coping skills, and build trust in mental health services. The Hub provides a safe space for men to share experiences and access culturally relevant resources.
Community & Connection: Facilitated discussions, skill-building sessions, and informal check-ins foster relationships that empower men, reduce stigma, and encourage early help-seeking.
Your Support Matters: Contributions expand access, maintain the Hub, and develop new programs—ensuring no Black man navigates mental health challenges alone.

Breaking Barriers to Mental Health Support
We’re making it easier for Black men to connect with the care they need—through culturally grounded, peer-led programs and a roster of trusted therapists ready to meet men where they are.
Partnered Support Network: Working with a network of vetted, culturally competent therapists to reduce barriers and provide accessible mental health care for Black men.
Peer-Led Programs: Evidence-based peer support helps men feel safe, understood, and empowered to take steps toward wellness.
Virtual & Community Access: Our programs are designed to meet men in spaces where they feel most comfortable—online, in community hubs, and through guided one-on-one sessions.
Reducing Barriers: By combining professional care with peer mentorship and community support, we make it easier for men to seek help early and sustain mental wellness.
Your Donation at Work: Honouring the Inner Man & Heart of Brotherhood Retreat
Your support fuels two transformative initiatives that uplift Black men across Canada—merging celebration, community, and mental wellness.

Honouring the Inner Man (HIM)

Bringing Two Initiatives Together: For 2026, the Honouring the Inner Man (HIM) Calendar and the Heart of Brotherhood Retreat are merging to create a holistic experience—celebrating Afro-Canadian men while providing accessible, peer-led mental health supports.
Celebrating Diversity and Affirmation: The HIM Calendar showcases Black men from across Canada, including parents, professionals, elders, and 2SLGBTQ+ community members. Each month pairs a principle—such as Love, Strength, or Wisdom—with affirmations designed to inspire, empower, and affirm identity.
Impact & Reach: In 2025, the HIM Calendar reached over 600 men through community centres, schools, and partner organizations across Toronto, while the retreat created meaningful experiences for 50+ participants. The 2026 goal is to reach 1,000 men through combined initiatives, amplifying visibility, connection, and access to mental health resources.
Your Support Matters: Donations over $25 help produce the calendar, fund retreat scholarships, and support the continuation of BMTF programs. Together, these initiatives remove barriers, increase access to culturally grounded care, and provide safe, restorative spaces for Black men to connect, reflect, and thrive.
Engaging Key Organizations: Organizational recipients included Peel Family Education Centre, Black CAP, WHIWH, Roots Community Services, Salvation Army Canada, Western University, TAIBU Community Health Centre, Malvern Men’s Social Club, CAFCAN, CEE Centre for Young Black Professionals, Trent University, and The 519 Community Centre
Amplified Awareness Through Media & Outreach: Significant promotion through word-of-mouth, volunteer outreach, and media including The Dr. Vibe Show, plus social media amplification by participating models
Empowering Black Men and Boys: Enabled hundreds of Black men and boys to access affirmations, visibility, and resources designed to support mental wellness
Heart Of Brotherhood

Connecting with Hundreds of Men Across Canada: BMTF engaged with 500 men nationwide who expressed interest and excitement in participating in our programming. These connections built awareness, trust, and anticipation for our peer-led initiatives, demonstrating the strong demand for culturally relevant mental health support for Black men.
Breaking Financial Barriers: Last year, tickets were $600 per participant. With community support, we provided scholarships to 5 men. This year, we aim to reduce the ticket price to $200, dramatically increasing access, making the retreat accessible to men who face financial obstacles.
Peer-Led Connection: Participants engage in meditations, sound baths, breathwork, journaling, hiking, and open dialogue—building community, wellness, and brotherhood through shared experiences.
Culturally Relevant Care On-Site: This year, therapists and practitioners will be present to provide peer-informed, culturally grounded support, offering tools and approaches that complement traditional therapy.
A Transformative Escape: The retreat gives Black men restorative space outside the city, fostering reflection, connection, and new ways to approach mental wellness.
Evidence-Based Growth: Sessions integrate DBT-informed practices that strengthen emotional regulation, resilience, and personal development.
Media Recognition and Awareness: Our work gained significant attention, being featured in a CBC Toronto docu-series, highlighting the retreat’s reach, impact, and the urgent need for peer-led mental health initiatives for Black men. This exposure amplified our message and inspired community-wide support.
Introducing New Approaches to Wellness: Participants were introduced to alternative approaches to therapy and wellness practices they may not have experienced before. Participants left the retreat with tangible skills to manage stress, build emotional resilience, and continue their mental health journeys beyond the retreat.
