Our Story
Empowering Black Men Through Reimagining Mental Health Support
The Black Men's Therapy Foundation was founded by Jah Grey with a vision to create a world where mental health support is accessible to all, breaking down barriers to services like talk therapy. In 2022, we introduced the Black Men's Therapy Fund with the understanding that mental health impacts everyone, regardless of race, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, ability, or age. The challenges brought about by the pandemic have highlighted the need for mental health resources, with disparities in access to support for many individuals. Our goal with the fund was to provide ten Black men with culturally sensitive therapy for a year.
Our initiative has evolved into an active community, comprising a dedicated team of men working towards a shared vision of transforming the approach to care. We aim to offer men a space where they can explore innovative approaches beyond traditional talk therapy, foster accountability, connect with like-minded individuals, rediscover joy, and empower themselves through self-realization. Our emphasis is on presenting a more holistic and diverse representation of Black men's experiences, countering the limited portrayals often seen in mainstream media.
